Grand Opening!

Big news here... Starting Thanksgiving Day (Thursday), you will be able to order Shimmerz products directly from Shimmerz!

To celebrate, Shimmerz & Blingz will be sale-priced for the weekend and will go back up to their normal price on Monday, Dec 1. As soon as it's open for business, there will be a link to the store.

And one timely reminder for you: There's less than a week to send your links for the Shimmerz Linkz program where they give away free jars of Shimmerz every single month! Deadline time is 11:59 PM Mountain Time on Sunday, November 30th.

If you haven't tried Shimmerz paints yet, well what are you waiting for?

Two quotes for you today:

To speak gratitude is courteous and pleasant, to enact gratitude is generous and noble, but to live gratitude is to touch Heaven. ~Johannes A. Gaertner

A thankful heart is not only the greatest virtue, but the parent of all the other virtues. ~Cicero

A Banner Day!

I made this Family Christmas Banner yesterday (when I should have been doing 100 other things!) I am obsessed with these Jenni Bowlin Bingo Cards that Denise sent me. I am going to do so many things with them. She also sent me the Valentine's Bingo Cards. So cute!!

I love the way it turned out and I will hang it proudly every holiday season, where??? I don't know!

I am so looking forward to Thanksgiving. We are joining our next door neighbors who are our "Idaho Family". Love them and we are all cooking and sharing the menu. I can taste the turkey already. My mouth is watering. Today I will make my Cranberry Compote and tomorrow my mom's stuffing recipe! YUM!

I'm off to check a few things off of my to do list!

Tinsel Town...

I've been having fun with the new Christmas line, Tinsel Town from Pink Paislee. The colors are fun and not your traditional Christmas hues...

This one is a gift card holder. What better gift card than COFFEE? Now which of my "powered by caffeine" friends should I send it to? :0)

I have gotta find the ribbons and embellishments for this line!

Hope you all have a lovely weekend! Special K is out of town so it's just me and my homeboys hanging out. Last night we watched the movie August Rush. Have you seen this? It was just brilliant! I have to buy the soundtrack. I'll put it on my list for Santa right under the Slice from Making Memories! I gotta have that. Anybody buy it yet? What is the verdict? Do you love it?

Quote for today:
Fear less, hope more; Whine less, breath more;
Talk less, say more; Hate less, love more;
And all good things are yours.
-- Swedish Proverb

funny faces!

Nate loves to look at his reflection! The other day, I had a pot on the counter and he was making all kinds of funny faces in it. I had to grab the camera because it was cracking me up! Hope it makes you smile too.

Denis Leary is an ASS!

He is blaming parents for the brain disorder, Autism, in his new book, "Why We Suck: a Feel-Good Guide to Staying Fat, Loud, Lazy and Stupid," the New York Post's Page Six reported.

"There is a huge boom in autism right now because inattentive mothers and competitive dads want an explanation for why their dumb-ass kids can't compete academically, so they throw money into the happy laps of shrinks ... to get back diagnoses that help explain away the deficiencies of their junior morons," the "Rescue Me" star writes, calling such children "stupid" or "lazy" rather than autistic.

The Autism Society of America called the claims "ridiculous."

"For Mr. Leary to suggest that families or doctors conspire to falsely diagnose autism is ridiculous. ... [His] remarks reflect the same misconceptions of autism being caused by bad or unemotional parenting that were held over 50 years ago," the society responded, according to the New York Post.

In the book, Leary also rips on Dr. Phil, Paul McCartney and Heather Mills, as well as Hillary Clinton.

I have always liked his comedy, especially the Red Sox stuff. This is just ridiculously uncalled for and I urge you not to buy his new book.

Five Faves Friday!

My first fave today is my hubby, Kirk, AKA Special K! It is his birthday and he is hands down the best husband and daddy!

I've got two favorite scrappy things to share! The Valentine's Day lines are hitting the stores soon and the ones I've gotta have are Crush by Teresa Collins and Love Notes by Making Memories!!

I recently went to a Scentsy party and I LoVe that stuff!! I got the scents Falling Leaves, Spruceberry and Enchanted Mist. They are very soft and not overpowering. My house smells great!

Finally, my fifth fave o' the week...

Gingerbread Lattes are back at Starbucks!! Yummmmmmmm!

Happy Friday!

So excited for...

the holidays!!

Ok, I know it's not even Thanksgiving yet and I already have my blog all tricked out for Christmas! I can't help it. I am so looking forward to the holidays this year. We get to stay right here at home for all of them. My inlaws will be visiting for Christmas and that will be fun.

I just was not into the whole Halloween thing this year. I took all my pumpkin stuff down on November first and asked Kirk to get me down the Christmas decorations. He looked at me like I was mad! I'll take that as a NO. Oh well, maybe this weekend!

This Christmas will be a very simple one as far as gifts go but that is fine. I'm going to start baking and freezing my cookies on Sunday. I'll share my favorite recipes, K?

Well, at least I haven't busted out the Christmas music yet. I'll wait a little bit for that.

I need something to take my mind off of the fact that baseball season is over. I go through major withdrawals after the World Series. I am hoping that Dustin Pedroia gets voted the MVP of the American League. I even altered my "Vote For Pedro" shirt to "Vote For Pedroia"! hee hee.

I've been reading a lot and I finished fifty, yes, fifty very elaborate Christmas cards for Denise. Now I have to make my own!

Hope your week is going well.
Hugs to ya!

Spiced Cider...

It's been very difficult for me to pick a favorite of the new Shimmerz Blingz paints but now I know it is definitely the Spiced Cider. I used it here to "spice" up some Pink Paislee paper and it is gorgeous. It is dreary out today so I wasn't able to capture just how shimmery it is with the camera but it is so pretty!

Stacey (the fabulous owner of Shimmerz) and I are working on putting together a class so you can make some beautiful Shimmery things and take some home to play with. Check back, I will have more info on that soon!!

Oh, and by the way, this is a calendar page, (November) of a gift I am making for a my friend Denise who has been begging me for a sneak peek! I know she will just freak!

Angie from Scrap Scene featured one of my Christmas cards today (thanks Angie!). Here are a couple more to share with you!

One more thing... I have decided to open up an Etsy shop! I read an article about the man who started it in Mary Engelbreit's Home Companion and I was really inspired. I will be donating 10% of all sales to Autism Speaks. I hope to get all my items loaded this week so check back soon!

Here's a quote for you today:

One of the secrets of a long and fruitful life is to forgive everybody, everything, every night before you go to bed.

-Bernard M. Baruch

Have a lovely Sunday!

I feel...

so proud of our country! Tonight I cry tears of pride and joy. I cry as my two oldest sons scream their different political views at each other. Joe as a democrat, Nick as a republican. I am so proud that our country as a whole can look beyond the color of a person's skin and into their character and into their dreams for our nation.

My all time favorite quote is this:

"I have a dream that someday my four children will be judged not for the color of their skin but by the content of their character."
~Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

I am SO PROUD!!

VoTe!!

I am so excited today. I woke the boys up at 5:30. Got showered and dressed up, did make-up and hair. I want to be there when the polls open. I am proud to have the RIGHT to vote. Can you imagine what women felt like less than one hundred years ago who were not ALLOWED to vote?

And then there was the 19th Amendment to the Constitution on August 26, 1920! Woo hoo!

Gonna go right to Starbucks after I cast my ballot for my free cuppa joe. It tastes better when it's free, ya know? LoL!

It's also Nate's Pizza Hut field trip. My Natey loooooooves his pizza so it's fun stuff.

xoxo,
~L

Don't forget...

So now I am on the same time as all of my bffs in Arizona. Yeah, I don't have to do the math! That adding or subtracting one hour can be very taxing, LoL!

What's up for this Sunday? It is dreary out here and I love dreary once in a while.

Not sure what we are all doing today. Hopefully, I will get a bit of creative time.

Have fun!

More Halloween...

Joe wanted to be the Joker like Kirk was last week for the Halloween Party. He just loves any chance to wear his Dad's black trench. Yippee, I'm all about repurposing! He went to a party at a friend's house and had a great time. I don't know what got into Nick. He was some freaky stabbing victim or something. I just told him to have his Dad help him because it freaked me out!

I'm so glad Halloween is over for another whole year! Although I love fall and pumpkins and all that, I'm not a big fan of Halloween, never have been. Bring on the TURKEY and the TREE! Yeah!

xoxo
