there would be days like this!

leap day 2008 sucked. i lost my cell phone last night. my phone is like a third hand! can't live without it. i plopped down 200 clams for a new phone today. same phone. love this phone. nate had one of his manic nights. he woke up at 1:30 am bouncing off the walls. i was so tired today. could barely keep my eyes open. tried to take a bath and ran out of hot water. i went to start sewing pillows tonight but both of my sewing machines are broken! ugh! i'm calling it a day. right now. a very long, bad, leap day.

night y'all! hope tomorrow is a better day, or at least i have a better way of looking at things!

like:
at least i didn't lose my whole purse...
at least nate is sleeping right now...
at least i have a really big bath tub and really great bubble bath...
at least i have a really good sewing machine service guy...
at least my beautiful orange envy phone was replaceable...

i tried to bitch, i really did. i just can't. it is impossible for me to bitch and be negative, even when i try. LOL!

hope your leap day was just bitchin!

My Class...

Many of you have asked about the class I will be teaching at ICE Escape. I will be teaching the Baby Onesie Mini Book class. You will be able to choose between the Baby Girl, Baby Boy or Ballerina kit. The papers and supplies will vary from these photos (gotta use the latest and greatest stuff!) but the template will be the same. The classes will be an additional charge from the registration. My friend Kelly G. will be teaching her fabulous Fabric Book class too!

wicked good stuff...

I got a bunch of orders for my photo pillows today so it was a great excuse to go shopping for fabric, yippee! I found some beautiful stuff at Quilt Expressions in Garden City. My favorite is the red and cream damask print! We had a gorgeous sunset tonight. Spring is in the air. The Red Sox have a double header tomorrow for their Spring Training openers (I'm giddy over this!) and last but not least, tonight is my LAST hip hop dance class! I know I should say that I loved this class but, well, you know!

Can't wait to start sewing tomorrow! Sewing while watching baseball, pure bliss (with a glass of wine too, I might add!) Doesn't get much better. Hope things are well with y'all!

xoxo,
LoRi

Meet Michelle...

I met this lovely, perky lady when she worked at Archiver's. I've never and I mean never met a friendlier person who would just help you and talk to you while you were shopping! She just oozes spunk. She really, really wanted to set up her own blog so the other night I went over to her house and bing, bam, boom, we did it! Go ahead and visit her blog and leave her a little "welcome to blogland" comment!

Signs Of Spring...

Even though lots of you in the North and Midwest are still getting buried with snow, we are seeing some early signs of Spring here in Idaho. There are little fuzzy pussy willow buds on my trees and my tulips and daffodils are sprouting out of the ground. Nate and Cristina are spending lots more time outside for therapy lately. I can't believe it has been six months since Nate started IBI (Intensive Behavioral Therapy). He has made so much progress. Cristina is the best! Hope you are seeing some sunshine and signs of spring in your neck of the woods!

i found it!

remember the other day i was talking about this post about aaadd that i had read on someone's blog? well, i found it and i just had to share. leave a comment if you can relate so that i know that i am not alone!

Recently, I was diagnosed with A.A.A.D.D -
Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder.
This is how it manifests:

I decide to water my garden.

As I turn on the hose in the driveway,
I look over at my car and decide it needs washing.

As I start toward the garage,
I notice mail on the porch table that
I brought up from the mail box earlier.

I decide to go through the mail before I wash the car.

I lay my car keys on the table,
put the junk mail in the garbage can under the table,
and notice that the can is full.

So, I decide to put the bills back
on the table and take out the garbage first.

But then I think,
since I'm going to be near the mailbox
when I take out the garbage anyway,
I may as well pay the bills first.

I take my check book off the table,
and see that there is only one check left.

My extra checks are in my desk in the study,
so I go inside the house to my desk where
I find the can of Coke I'd been drinking.

I'm going to look for my checks,
but first I need to push the Coke aside
so that I don't accidentally knock it over.

The Coke is getting warm,
and I decide to put it in the refrigerator to keep it cold.

As I head toward the kitchen with the Coke,
a vase of flowers on the counter
catches my eye--they need water.

I put the Coke on the counter and
discover my reading glasses that
I've been searching for all morning.

I decide I better put them back on my desk,
but first I'm going to water the flowers.

I set the glasses back down on the counter,
fill a container with water and suddenly spot the TV remote.
Someone left it on the kitchen table.

I realize that tonight when we go to watch TV,
I'll be looking for the remote,
but I won't remember that it's on the kitchen table,
so I decide to put it back in the den where it belongs,
but first I'll water the flowers.

I pour some water in the flowers,
but quite a bit of it spills on the floor.

So, I set the remote back on the table,
get some towels and wipe up the spill.

Then, I head down the hall trying to
remember what I was planning to do.

At the end of the day:

the car isn't washed

the bills aren't paid

there is a warm can of Coke sitting on the counter

the flowers don't have enough water,

there is still only 1 check in my check book,

I can't find the remote,

I can't find my glasses,

and I don't remember what I did with the car keys.

Then, when I try to figure out why nothing got done today,
I'm really baffled because I know I was busy all damn day,
and I'm really tired.

I realize this is a serious problem,
and I'll try to get some help for it,
but first I'll check my e-mail....

This is dedicated to my dear friend Kelly!

canvas...

I've been wanting to do something on a canvas for a while so I created this one last night while playing hooky from my dance class. It was inspired by one of the canvases in Ali Edwards' latest book. The cutie in the picture is my niece Marlies.

MM Blog

I love to read the Making Memories blog for inspiration. They have a little contest going on where they are going to choose a few scrapbookers to feature on their blog in March. I just had to post a few of my MM layouts here:

So there, I did! Wish me luck.

anna sali!

while shopping and running around in downtown boise on saturday, denise and i discovered an amazing artist! we popped into the grape escape for some wine and cheese and this beautiful young gal named anna sali was performing. her voice is unbelievable. we both loved her instantly! she writes her own music and plays acoustic guitar (which i love). she is going to be huge!

you can hear full versions of her songs here. check out her myspace if you are a local here in boise to see where she will be appearing. i am going to see her this saturday night! so excited! if you are an itunes person you can also find her there!

friday...

denise arrived very late on thursday night (11:30!) so we got home and exchanged our valentine's day gifts. i got to be her valentine this year since jason is over in iraq. she gave me the most fabulous loot from bath and body works. they have these little lambie slippers and and eye mask to match. she also gave me the whole sleep collection which is lavender/vanilla scented and so relaxing! i will take a picture of the valentines banner she made me and show you tomorrow when i have lots of "me" time! i have to get this post done in five minutes!

we love to shop at boutiques that have beautiful unique things and we found this one:

on glenwood in garden city. sheri the owner is so sweet and she has amazing stuff so if you are local in boise, stop in and say hi! then we hit archiver's (of course!) for the latest and greatest in everything scrapbooking. my talented and sweet friend kim was teaching this make and take project:

we changed it up a little bit by adding RED stuff and a little bling. cute, huh? we then headed to the cheesecake factory for my favorite avocado eggrolls! tried a new cocktail called the georgia peach. so yummy! next time you are there you have to try the most delicious pasta dish in the universe, the bistro shrimp pasta! the lunch portion yielded four portions for us. we sat at the bar with a very nice lady named bev who shared her turtle cheesecake. to die for!

we burned a few calories by running around the mall for a couple of hours, denise buying more pairs of shoes in one day than i even own! then we spent the whole night scrapping and watching episodes of our very favorite show, ugly betty! the best day (until the next day!)

night y'all!

talking with my kids...

my older boys, joe and nick love to talk to me. it always happens to be at night after they are supposed to be in bed, much to my dismay, but i am grateful that they love to talk.

tonight we had a long talk about what it means to be a republican or a democrat. we also had a long talk about racism and about how their dad and i feel about it. the boys hear lots of jokes nowadays, lots of them inappropriate about sex, religion and politics. i do not want them to be swayed by comedians they hear on tv. yes, they are often funny but i so DO NOT like racist, sexist or political humor. i immediately delete emails i receive of this kind. i think it is so important for my kids to know that is it is okay for everyone to have their own beliefs and we need to respect them for it, even if we do not agree with them.

this got me thinking about this quote from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. which always touches me deeply:

"I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character."

i hope that my children will always live by this.

expectations...

Life is largely a matter of expectation.
If you want to succeed, you must expect to succeed.
Expectation energizes your goals and gives them momentum.
When you believe something good can happen, it will happen.

But Greatly Appreciated!

Ok, I believe someone is going to make these Red Velvet cupcakes for me! YUM!

friday night...

what a crazy busy week. so glad to just stay home tonight and go to bed early. well, after this post i'm hitting the hay! i finally scrapped a couple of layouts tonight. it had been a couple of weeks and i was going crazy wanting to create! i watched bridget jones's diary on bravo while i scrapped tonight. love that movie. i could watch it a hundred times. oh man, as i am typing this the sequel is coming on so i just may have to put toothpicks in my eyes to stay up and watch it (even though i own it on dvd!) this is just really good stuff! this is going to be a crazy weekend here. my son, Joe is turning 14 and invited 5 teenagers over to play video games and eat and eat and play video games and then go see a highly inappropriate movie. good times.

we've had lots of snow as of late and one of my favorite past times is to sit in my living room with a steaming cup of hot coffee and watch my husband shovel the driveway. i have a few neighbors who actually feel guilty when their husbands are shoveling and they come over and borrow an extra shovel from us and join their man in the task. i don't get this. i mean the guilt thing. what is up with that?

i no more get that then i get how some people do not like chocolate. how do you not like chocolate? what is not to like?

i will leave you tonight with a quote my children say everytime i correct them or "pick" on them:

"well excuse me for having enormous flaws that i don't work on!" -homer simpson
